Cataract Falls is a little different from your typical emo/ hardcore band. I can't quite seem to put my finger on it either. The subject matter ranges from rejection to a dysfunctional family situation, but the music is a different matter. When HeartattaCk described Cataract Falls as "The sound of twine about to snap" they were right on the money. The thing is, it keeps pulling and pulling and never breaks. When it does, it's more like glass cutting and eardrums bursting. Screeching vocals and noisy guitars make up the first 11 tracks, and the last 6 tracks are just odd. Most of the last 6 are talking and snippets that explain how the band ended. Stacey is hilarious! (DW)

Cataract Falls--the sound of your breath still--Holy shit. This is the angriest music I've ever heard. It makes Aloneness Morisette look like Winnie the Pooh. I kid you not. Without music, this guy would have blown his head right off. Oh yeah, the review - Emo punk? Emo hardcore? Whatever, it's emo and it's pissed off.

this one baffles me to no end, kind of like a low fi treatment of dillenger four. the thing is i am not really that excited to hear someone scream incomprehensible words and in the same pitch all the time. what the hell are they trying to say? that no matter what is said, it's the way you scream it? yeah okay. thee playing seems okay, the guitar sounds good. this is not the type of music you want to have gree tea with and relax on a sunny, breezy afternoon. pissed off? edgy and scared of the world? take cataract falls with you.
